As someone who enjoys watching criminal court trials, I was excited to hear that our county was the location of what I’ll call a high profile trial of a law enforcement officer. I knew some of the particulars of the case and the allegations that had been made. I decided it would be interesting to actually go to view the trial in progress. I attended two half-days and a full day of opening arguments, witnesses called by the prosecution and eventual dismissal of charges by the judge. Over the next several days, I’ll share what I observed during the case. I will preface what I share by saying I have a very limited understanding of the particulars of the legal precepts, but I feel it’s of interest to many what a “common citizen” observed during the trial.
