Emotions and Intelligence – A Balance

Emotions are a part of what makes us human. We also have been given intelligent minds to help us navigate life’s course. Keeping these two in their proper proportions can be the key to leading a meaningful, joyful life.

I seek to understand the importance of both emotions and intelligence in my own life. The key is to not let the size of one not override the other. I have to admit that my emotional self can at times take me to places I don’t need or want to be.

So as I face the different parts of my journey on this earth, I realize that my emotional self will always be present. But at the same time, I need to use my God-given intelligence for its proper purposes as well. Some would refer to them as the head and the heart. There are times that they seem to be indicating opposite directions. The key is to take each moment as it comes and practice the pause that helps me make use of both. And above all else, surrender it all to the God of my understanding.

Just a few random thoughts crossing my mind on this Christmas day.
