I’m two and a half weeks into my hiatus from social media. Keeping myself away from Facebook and the like has not been overly difficult. I’ve ventured out and tried two new apps, Threads and Tumblr. Some may say that those are also considered social media, but I found in my limited exposure that they were anything but that for me. I’ve since deleted both apps from my phone. They were, for the most part, a waste of time.
I had a somewhat busy day yesterday, but got done all I needed to do. I went out for breakfast and coffee with friends, went to a meeting at the local detox, went to my great-grandson’s first birthday party, and ended the day giving a talk at the local recovery meeting. There were plenty of cups of coffee sprinkled in between those events.
My interim teaching position got off to somewhat of a rough start this past Friday. The classes I’ve been given charge of tend to be quite talkative and lack discipline in daily routines. Hopefully this upcoming week will be some better. I have made the decision that this will be my last interim position in teaching. Any work I do after this school year will be subbing day-to-day.
Today is an overcast, foggy day. Hopefully some of the clouds will dissipate as the day progresses and we’ll see some sunshine before the work week begins.
