I’ve recently started as a free-lance photographer for the local newspaper. I’m officially the “Nightlife Photographer.” My job is to go out each Friday or Saturday night and take pictures of people out and about, mainly in restaurants and bars in my home town. The job has been challenging, but after one month on the job, it’s something I’m beginning to really enjoy.
Besides how to get better pictures and use the paper’s computer system, I’m also learning about what night life is like. The restaurants and bars I have been to seem to be filled with people having a genuinely good time. There’s lots of laughter and music and, of course, good food.
I’ve never been one to go out a lot at night….but I’m seeing the positive side of that habit. After a long week of work, most patrons seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. And no, it’s not limited to those that are sipping on cocktails. In fact, some of the liveliest groups are ones that have no alcoholic beverages at all.
So as I look to the future, perhaps corralling a date or getting a group of friends together to go “out of the town” wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
Just something I’ve learned along the path.
