Another One in the Works….

Just about a month ago, I started a part-time job as a free-lance photographer for the local newspaper.  The job itself is only two to three hours per week, but it gives me the opportunity to get out and about and do something I truly enjoy, photography.

On the heels of that job, another part-time job may be in the offing.  I was contacted by someone just yesterday with a proposal and after thinking about the offer for a little over twenty-four hours, I’ve decided to take them up on their offer.

I’ll offer more details once it’s made official, but I’m excited to be going in another unique direction.

I’ll post an update as soon as it’s official.

Lessons I’m Learning…

I’ve recently started as a free-lance photographer for the local newspaper.  I’m officially the “Nightlife Photographer.”   My job is to go out each Friday or Saturday night and take pictures of people out and about, mainly in restaurants and bars in my home town.  The job has been challenging, but after one month on the job, it’s something I’m beginning to really enjoy.

Besides how to get better pictures and use the paper’s computer system, I’m also learning about what night life is like.  The restaurants and bars I have been to seem to be filled with people having a genuinely good time.  There’s lots of laughter and music and, of course, good food.

I’ve never been one to go out a lot at night….but I’m seeing the positive side of that habit.  After a long week of work, most patrons seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. And no, it’s not limited to those that are sipping on cocktails.  In fact, some of the liveliest groups are ones that have no alcoholic beverages at all.

So as I look to the future, perhaps corralling  a date or getting a group of friends together to go “out of the town” wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

Just something I’ve learned along the path.

#52 – Time for Mending….

52-Mending

#52 – MENDING

FORGIVENESS; MAKING AMENDS; HEALING AFTER ARGUMENTS

GUIDANCE

The Oracle’s message: Each time we are hurt and allow the hurt to pass through us without understanding and integration, we accumulate an unwanted burden. This keeps us chained to the very things we need to heal: the pain, the memories, the echoes of resentments, and the arguments that we rehearse over and over. Now is the time for mending rifts, healing wounds, and letting go of the old hurts in order to reclaim your power. Now is the time to forgive, to release, to make peace, and to make amends to others. Set yourself free. Relationship message: You’ve come to a place where forgiveness is necessary if you’re to move forward. Separate or together, you and the other person are still experiencing the effects of a hurt that is impacting everything you do—even if you’re not aware of it. The energy needs to clear. What must you do to bridge this gap? Closing your heart is not the answer. You have the power to heal this wound. Ask yourself, What would Love do? Only good will come of forgiveness and an honest redress. Prosperity message: Everyone makes mistakes, especially when you want something very badly. You may come to realize that in chasing after a pretty, shiny thing, you lost sight of long-term, sustainable prosperity. Sometimes you make choices that look good at first but ultimately lead to loss or failure. It’s time to forgive yourself and others. Don’t blame anyone else. You get to start again, wiser and more mature. The journey to true abundance can be bumpy. Make amends to anyone you may have hurt along the way—especially yourself. Forgive those who may have taken advantage of you. Let go, and learn from this. You are now that much closer to achieving the kind of prosperity that really fulfills you. Nothing is ever lost or wasted when you view it from this perspective.

Just Another Saturday….

Today is just like so many other Saturdays…up early and out to breakfast with a friend, dropping by the newspaper office to upload last night’s pictures, the usual routine.  There is a dull toothache I’m dealing with, but as usual with most medical issues, it has to happen on the weekend.

Then there’s the housecleaning that is begging to be done….and that’s what I’m getting ready to get started with after I finish here.   I am not one to be a “neat freak,” but then again I don’t want to appear to be a slob either.  When it gets to the point that you would question whether or not you would want a friend to show up because of the messy nature of things, it’s time to get to work.

And so that’s the plan for at least a good portion of the day. I’ll hit the Pandora website for some background music, set the timer so I’ll know when to take a needed break, and my faithful dog Abby to wonder what the heck I’m up to today.  I’m hoping to be done by mid-afternoon so I can do some things that I really want to with the day.

We’ll just have to see how that goes….or doesn’t.

Details, details, details….

#43 – DETAILS, DETAILS

“THE MOST POWERFUL PATTERNS ARE CREATED WITHIN THE TINIEST DETAILS. PAY ATTENTION.”

REVERSED

Heed the gentle warning that perfectionism will not lead you to what you desire, but instead will steer you away from it. Nothing will be good enough when you become obsessed with being perfect. No one can ever measure up to your scrutiny, and nothing that you can ever do will assuage that general feeling of not being up to par. You’re perfect already, just as you are. Reversed, the Details, Details card challenges you to accept things as they are in all their imperfections—to step into the world and engage it without any expectations. You are exactly where you’re supposed to be.

#19 – THE DOG

LOYALTY, SINCERITY, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

The Dog is the most loyal animal to human beings. When the Dog appears on your path, he reminds you of this trait. Are you steadfast with your loved ones? Are you true to yourself and your dreams? Do you act with sincerity? It’s very important that you do so now, for good fortune comes with the faithful Dog as your companion. The Dog loves sincerely without conditions, and is happy to be part of a pack. Think about how you function in your community—are you a loyal team player? Another issue the Dog asks you to consider is the loyalty of others. If someone is being insincere, move on because he or she isn’t meant to be in your pack. Ask the Dog for a sign, and your answer will be shown. Dog energy lives in your heart, so look there.
