Another Sabbatical is Upon Me,,,

The Lenten season is nearly upon us. It officially begins this Wednesday, February 18 and lasts through Thursday, April 2. As in years past, I will be taking time off from social media during this time. My pages will go dark and I will be seeking other things to occupy my time.

The Lenten season is once again beginning and as is the tradition with many, I’ll be giving up my social media presence during this time. I’ve done it several years in the past, and although it’s difficult at first, as with many habits, it becomes easier with time.

When my pages go dark on Wednesday at 12 midnight, I’ll leave links that I utilize for the daily posts I do. For those who depend upon those posts each day, it’ll mean a couple more clicks, but will be easily accessible.

During the time away, I’m planning on taking up my hobby of photography once again. My digital camera has gathered quite a bit of dust and I do miss going out and about to take pictures. I also will be beginning a practice known as “Lecto Divina” that I was introduced to at church. I’m also investigation a mindfulness practice known as “Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction” (MBSR) lessons that I was introduced to by a friend.

As always, being away from social media will be difficult at first and be easier as times passes….and there will come that point on Easter Sunday when it’s time to return that I call into question whether that’s something I want to do.
