It’s day three of my time away from social media. You truly don’t realize how much something is a part of your daily life until it’s not there any more. Countless times, I’ve looked on my phone, only to remember I’ve removed all those social apps. I saw a sunrise the other day I wanted to share on my page and then realized there was no real place to share it. Life is definitely different….
- This morning at the cafe, a friend asked how my sabbatical from social media was going. He said he really enjoyed mydaily posts of various sorts and this made me feel really good. While I do miss posting each day, I do think it’s a good thing to be away for a while.
- I was listening to a Wayne Dyer podcast yesterday as I was walking and heard him mention the book Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill. I purchased the book after seeing it on a teaable here at Barnes of and Noble. The book speaks to being rich in terms not of financial or material wealth, but in terms of a fulfilled life. I’ve read only a portion of the first chapter, but think I’m going to enjoy it.
- At our morning recovery meeting, we read and discussed the second step, “Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.” I was reminded of the many changes I’ve experienced in my own life when it comes to a definition of a “Higher Power” and I’m glad that we have the option to choose whatever Higher Power we choose to grab hold of. Now I still question some days whether or not I’m experiencing sanity, but I know I’m a lot better than I would be otherwise.
- These next several weeks will see a lot of changes in life. I have a court date that will likely bring an official end to a civil union. I am getting ready to start yet another interim teaching position that will last through the end of the school year in May. And while the changes are all what I consider to be good, changes can sometimes bring about unrest. But at least I’m aware and ready to handle whatever else might come my way.
- I’m glad to see that I have had quite a few views and reads on my blog. While I won’t be writing something every day, it is a good way to stay in touch with the world.

Have a good day, David!
